So I was just talking to my friend DJ and I told her I had to get off the phone to take care of the boys. It went something like this:
me: "I better go. It's way past the boys' bedtime and I haven't seen them in an hour. I've been drinking margaritas and hiding in my bedroom since we got home from dinner. I guess I should quit ignoring my kids."
DJ: "I like to think of it less as ignoring and more like teaching them independence."
